Telling , your Athlete how to play better doesn’t actually help them play better.
Normalize Mistakes – Remind them that mistakes are part of growth. Say things like mistakes mean you are learning.
Focus on Progress, Not Perfection – Celebrate small wins and improvements, not just the flawless performances.
Set Realistic Goals – Break big goals into smaller achievable goals to make them manageable.
Encourage Reflection Over Criticism – What went well, what can you work on next time instead of focusing on what went wrong.
In the long run what matters most is their trust in themselves and your connection with them.
Remember – Your relationship with your athlete lasts longer then most sports activities.
