20 Nov Local Jiu Jitsu schools hosts World Jiu Jitsu Champion
Greenwood Jiu Jitsu brought in Leo Vieira from Checkmat HQ in California this past weekend for a sold old event. Learning for a multiple time world jiu jitsu champion was an honor. Leo was the first person to fight in ADCC and combine Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling and set the standard for many years to come. At Greenwood Jiu Jitsu we like to keep current with all the latest techniques and strategies that makes Checkmat the number 1 team. For Greenwood Jiu Jitsu and myself Coach Chris Greenwood it was an honor to bring the first Checkmat school to Canada in 2012. Along with being the first Canadian to earn a Jiu Jitsu Black belt under the Vieira brothers in 2011 from Ricardo Vieira. During the Seminar Leo also took time to Promote Coach Chris Greenwood to 4th degree Black Belt which represents 14 years as a Black Belt.
Coach Chris also awarded a Black Belt to a long time friend and student Keith making him the 4th Black Belt earned from Checkmat Toronto Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Another long time student was promoted to 2nd degree Black Belt representing 6 years at Black belt in Jiu Jitsu.
The vibe from the tournament was all positive vibes and everyone walked away with some tips to help improve themselves on the mats. Anyone looking to join us and become part of the Checkmat Family, we offer a Free week and you can sign up by calling or texting 647-282-0309
