During Covid -19 quarantine let’s stay focused on Jiu Jitsu

During Covid -19 quarantine let’s stay focused on Jiu Jitsu

It’s been a month since I had to stop teaching jiu jitsu classes at my Toronto Academy due to covid-19. It was an easy decision to help protect everyone’s health but such a hard thing on my mind as I have been running my martial arts school for eight years now. I’ve taught kids, adults and parents Jiu Jitsu seven days a week with no time off since opening in 2012. After closing it wasn’t even a week later the city released a statement that all the JiuJitsu/ Martial Arts / Fitness schools (non essential)at to close.

After a day or two of putting everything together so I could teach my Jiu Jitsu classes online live through Zoom I taught my first class on Saturday. I was overwhelmed by the support and love by my students with 50 people showing up and just seeing their faces made me smile.

It was great seeing a little over 50 people show up for live classes. I got a lot of touching notes about how it was great of me to do this. It really ment lot to me and truly helped me also as you know teaching has been my life. Not doing it for 2 weeks really made me miss something inside of me… after the 3.5 hours I feel like everyone lifted my spirits.

See you in the next Zoom class. For everyone’s safety the only way to get the Zoom Jiu Jitsu password is to text me personally.

Thanks,

Coach Chris Greenwood
